From the beginning, DoorDash set out to empower local economies. As part of that mission, we strive to help local businesses expand their reach by offering on-demand delivery for customers wherever they are.

Two years ago, through our white-label fulfillment platform, DoorDash Drive, our company moved beyond restaurants and into grocery delivery.

Today, we find ourselves navigating unprecedented times, where “delivery” can mean so much more than only convenience. Which is why we’ve set-out to make grocery delivery more accessible to those who need it the most right now.

Beginning today, DoorDash will be powering free delivery from more than 2,000 grocery store locations nationwide by waiving delivery fees for those 60 years of age and over*. Hy-Vee Inc., Woodman’s, Kowalski’s Markets and hundreds of independent grocers and specialty food shops like Piggly Wiggly, LifeThyme Natural Market, Le District, and Matherne’s are participating to provide free delivery to senior citizens in their communities.

In our continued emphasis on health and safety throughout this crisis, we want to ensure that those who are most at risk are able to shop for their daily groceries online without ever having to leave their homes.

This effort will kick off today, March 27, and depending on the grocer, will run through May 7. It’s made possible through partnerships with the leading independent grocery eCommerce solutions, including Rosie, Freshop, GrocerKey, and Mercato.

Read on to find a local participating grocer and to sign up for free delivery:

Hy-Vee: Starting March 31, Hy-Vee will offer free delivery to individuals who are 60 and older as well as expectant mothers and those who are considered high risk for illness in communities where Hy-Vee Aisles Online delivery orders are fulfilled by DoorDash. These customers will be able to use a designated promo code at checkout when they place their order through hy-vee.com/grocery. The promotion with Hy-Vee will cover up to 20,000 deliveries.

Woodman’s: Log in to your account on ShopWoodmans.com, powered by GrocerKey. If you are a new customer, please create an account first and then start shopping. The discount will be available through May 1 to its customers across Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois.

Kowalski’s: Log in to your Kowalski’s On The Go account, powered by GrocerKey. If you are a new customer, please create an account first and then start shopping. The discount will be available through May 1 to its customers across Minnesota.
