- Despite their European origin, French fries are America’s favorite type of potato! French fries made up 69% of the top potato dishes ordered nationwide — ranking as the #1 item ordered this year!
- Forget your traditional hash browns or breakfast potatoes in the morning — Americans even love French fries for breakfast, taking the top spot for most popular potato ordered for breakfast!
- Are hash browns replacing avocado toast as the new brunch staple? Hash browns surged 1,200% amongst potato items ordered during breakfast time between 2018 and 2019.
- Gimme some of your tots! Tater tots were 3x more popular in 2019 than in 2018.
- The debate over the best type of fry is over! Americans prefer traditional French fries over waffle fries, with traditional coming in two spots ahead of waffle fries at #1 and #3, respectively.
- Can you name a more iconic duo than cheese and potatoes? Cheese sauce was the most popular condiment for potato orders in both 2019 and 2018.
- Americans like their potatoes zesty! Salt and vinegar is the 4th most popular condiment (maybe thanks to the type of chip?), while lemon pepper comes in at #5.
