Being a “military-friendly” company isn’t the result of a clever marketing campaign, a donation, or a red, white, and blue logo; it comes from culture. Military veterans have embraced the values of service, teamwork, integrity, and passion while in service to our country, and as they transition to the private sector they often seek out companies that foster these same principles. Here at DoorDash, we feel very fortunate to be part of an organization that genuinely understands this culture of service and part of a community that not only values and empowers its people, but also drives and pushes them to excel.
As veterans, we know the difference a culture built on trust, empowerment, and excellence can make. While DoorDash has only been around for a little more than two years, it has already attracted a growing number of former soldiers and Marines, including veterans that served in Iraq and Afghanistan with units ranging from Marine Force Reconnaissance, to military intelligence, logistics, and artillery. We know firsthand the value that veterans bring to an organization because we have been fortunate enough to serve alongside the finest young men and women our country has to offer while in uniform. And we actively seek out veterans at DoorDash, both for full time roles and for positions as a Dasher, as they come from a cohort of individuals that realize the true meaning of hard work, sacrifice, and a sense of service toward a larger goal. We take great pride in our ability to provide flexible, rewarding opportunities for transitioning military members, and each veteran who has joined the DoorDash team has made an immediate and lasting impact on our community.
On this Veterans Day, we would like to send our sincere and heartfelt thanks to those who have served and those who continue to serve. You’re always on our minds.
John F. Kennedy once said, “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” On that note, many DoorDash employees are taking a day of service today, joining a few local organizations that we love and support. We’ve also made a donation to the Marine Reconnaissance Foundation, a great local grassroots group supporting veterans. If you’re looking for ways to get involved in meaningful and impactful ways alongside our nation’s veterans, The Mission Continues and Team Rubicon are two great places to start. We hope to see you out there!
