We’ve all been there: you’ve started to make dinner, when suddenly it hits you. You’re out of olive oil. Do you drop everything for a grocery store run? Luckily, that’s no longer necessary — now you can get your groceries delivered right to your door.
As of today, we’ve teamed up with Walmart to power their online grocery delivery. Thanks to DoorDash Drive, our innovative fulfillment technology, Walmart now has the keys to DoorDash’s expansive fleet of Dashers.
Kicking things off with deliveries in the Atlanta metro area, we’ll continue to expand our reach with Walmart across the U.S. so that everyone can experience the convenience of grocery delivery — whenever they need it.
Whether you’re shopping for that missing ingredient or need a whole refrigerator’s worth of groceries, simply place your order online at Walmart.com/grocery or on the existing Walmart Grocery App, switch to the Delivery tab, and select a delivery window at checkout. After items have been hand-selected by Walmart’s personal shoppers, a Dasher will deliver your order to you during the delivery window you selected. It’s that easy.
We’re excited to take the convenience you already know and love from DoorDash one step further with grocery delivery. So save a trip to the store and say goodbye to unloading all those bags of groceries from your car — and get ready for a time back to do something you love.

Look up “people person” in the dictionary and we’re pretty sure you’ll see the above photo of Sarah Wagener, our new Chief People Officer. Sarah’s had the kind of impressive career in recruiting and HR that makes her a inspiration to all women (and men!) in tech, from leadership positions at Genentech and Facebook to her most recent role as VP of Human Resources at Pandora. We’re pretty thrilled to welcome her to the DoorDash family in one of our most important and impactful roles — and we can’t wait to see where she takes us.
To get to know her better, here are 10 questions with Sarah:
Your number one reason for joining DoorDash?
It is really hard to choose just one reason — there are so many reasons why joining DoorDash is the right move for me. I have always been drawn to opportunities at mission-driven companies where I can make a difference. DoorDash’s focus on delivering good through connecting people with possibilities really resonates with me. I feel like the opportunity in front of us is tremendous and I am thrilled to be a part of it!
Tell us about your love of sequins…
That sequined jacket from my LinkedIn Talent Connect Keynote is a great example of my personal style — unique, unexpected, and daring. When my daughter and I were shopping for what I would wear for my talk, she found that jacket and demanded that I wear it. She said it was “so me” and I love that my children feel like being different is a good thing. Our uniqueness as individuals is super special and should be celebrated.
What are you reading right now?
I tend to read multiple books at the same time covering a range of topics, so I have something I can connect with that suits the mood I am in. The four books that I am at various stages of reading right now are:
“Measure What Matters” by John Doerr
“A Crack in Creation” by Jennifer A. Doudna and Samuel H. Sternberg
“Braving the Wilderness” by Brené Brown
“Gold Dust Woman” by Stephen Davis
Twitter or Instagram?
Definitely Instagram. I am a visual person and I love sharing moments through photos. I am getting much better at Instagram Stories, due in large part to a recent tutorial from a good friend of mine.
Favorite restaurant available on DoorDash?
This is a tough one! Hmmmm…I’ll have to go with La Penca Azul in Alameda. Mexican food is my kryptonite and their food is sooooo good!
Best gift you ever received?
Three healthy children. Best. Gift. Ever.
What is your lucky number and why?
13 is my lucky number and always has been an important number in my family. 13 is odd and has a bad reputation for being unlucky. I guess that speaks to my desire to see what others can’t see and root for the underdog. 13 has always been lucky for me.
What’s your definition of ‘Delivering Good’?
Delivering good is actually a personal belief of mine — we all get one life and delivering goodness while we are living it is a part of the deal. The fact that DoorDash is anchored on delivering good speaks to me in a very real way.
If you were stranded on an island and can only get one meal delivered, what would it be?
Grilled cheese sandwich on sourdough bread with tomato soup. That has to be my all time favorite meal.
How do you take your coffee?
…by the gallon? LOL. I drink a lot of coffee :-) I prefer a Caffe Breve with sugar free vanilla syrup or a large icy cold brew.
“Call when by emergency room,” read one delivery memo to a Dasher last year. “Just had a baby and need to celebrate! 🙌”
What were these proud parents getting delivered to mark the momentous occasion? An ice-cold, six-pack of beer, of course.
Since last Mother’s Day, we’ve received more than double the orders delivered to maternity wards in 2016! Delivery is clearly the thing to do when you’re done bringing that sweet little baby into the world.
That sushi you craved but couldn’t have during pregnancy? One of the most requested items from new moms in L.A. We also saw lots of orders from friends and family who knew that a deep-dish pizza from BJ’s after a long night of labor would be most welcome.
Here’s a rundown of the biggest maternity ward hits of 2017 across the nation:
What were the top 5 most popular places to order from?
The Cheesecake Factory
Buffalo Wild Wings
P.F. Chang’s
California Pizza Kitchen
B.J.’s Restaurant & Brewhouse
And topping the list in these cities:
New York: Momofuku Milk Bar
Dallas: Famous Sweet Tea from McAlister’s Deli
Los Angeles: Sushi from Sugarfish
Chicago: Portillo’s
Boston: Pizza
Bay Area: The Cheesecake Factory
And when you’re dashing to the delivery room…some fun #instructions for Dashers from real customers:

“Hi, I’m stuck on bed rest in the hospital ☹️ I’m in the labor and delivery cascade wing. Hit red button and say food delivery for Natalie. In room 2108! Thank you so much!”

The royal wedding is almost here — though you’re going to have to get up VERY early (or stay up really late) to witness the nuptials live on this side of the globe. Whether you’re planning a very proper British brunch, late night pub snacks, or a riff on Windsor Castle’s decadent desserts — you can get it delivered with DoorDash!
Windsor Castle’s head chef Mark Flanagan has been busy whipping up some farm-to-table veggies in preparation for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day. The official menu has not been released, but will showcase “the freshest produce available.” Try The Cheesecake Factory’s vegan cobb salad, which features fresh grilled asparagus — rumored to be on the royal menu.
What’s better for an English brunch than tea sandwiches? English Tea Cup has tea party meals featuring a variety of these very proper sandwiches, including cheese and tomato, cucumber, and egg salad.
Don’t forget the crumpets! Loaded with “nooks and crannies,” they’re a more elevated take on our own humble “English muffin.” Seattle’s Queen Bee Cafe features house-baked crumpets that are toasted and served with either sweet or savory toppings. Try the pickled English cucumber with cilantro cream cheese and red onion.
If pub food is more your style, Post Brewing Company has some deviled (or, “devilled” if you want to be properly British) eggs that should go down well with a pint (or two).
For more authentic pub foods, try Cupertino’s Duke of Edinburgh, where they serve a variety of English favorites — including sausage rolls, bangers and mash and savory pastries. Want to really impress your guests? Be sure to order some scotch eggs. (If they’re fans of the British version of “The Office,” they’ll understand.)
Lazy Dog’s bacon candy is savory, sweet, and a little spicy — just like Harry and Meghan!
At past gala events, Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth has been known to serve premium English sparkling wine instead of traditional French Champagne. Take a cue from the queen and represent Meghan’s American roots by serving some stateside bubbly. Have Bevmo dash over some Gruet Cuvee 89 Sparkling Brut.

Tacos A Go Go co-owner Sharon Haynes and head chef Marivel Gomez at their Midtown location.
If you’ve watched David Chang’s mouthwatering Netflix series, Ugly Delicious, then you’ll remember the stunning diversity of cuisine on display in the Houston episode, from Viet-Cajun crawfish to Texas barbecue. But more than telling us about what the city loves to eat, the biggest thing it revealed was how much food connects people across the Houston — and even more so during the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in 2017.
“It was devastating for the community, and really hard for all of us to experience,” Sharon Haynes, co-owner of Houston’s Tacos A Go Go, told DoorDash. “We were very lucky that out of seven businesses, not one of them flooded.”
In the days and weeks immediately after Harvey, she said, the restaurant cooked up whatever food they had in their (powerless) refrigerators and served it up to first responders, hospitals, fire stations and the HPD. “People were so grateful to have the food,” said Sharon. “It was wonderful to see how when something like that happens, it brings communities together, and becomes the definition of community and food.”
We sat down with Haynes and head chef Marivel Gomez of Tacos A Go Go to talk all things Tex-Mex, breakfast tacos, and the only way you should ever consider eating them (hint: it can get messy).
Tell us a little bit about your background. Where are you both from, and how did you end up in Houston?
Sharon: I am a Jersey Girl who married a guy who had family here in Houston. After we took a long trip traveling abroad in a VW Camper Van, we decided to come to come explore the southwest and haven’t left since then!
Marivel: I came from Mexico and moved to Houston in 1991. I first started working as a babysitter and I was doing some other jobs, but I didn’t like it. When I started working in a restaurant, I liked it. I love to cook. I like having happy customers, and I like what we’re doing here.
Have you always cooked Mexican-inspired dishes?
Marivel: Yes, always. My mom died when I was four, so we had to cook. I learned a lot from my father. He taught me how to make tortillas, rice, beans, and lamb barbacoa. That’s very popular where I’m from in Hidalgo.
Have you taught anyone your cooking secrets, like to anyone in your family?
Marivel: Oh, yeah, I will! I tell my kids look, these are the recipes and this is all you’re going to get from me. Here — good luck! That’s my legacy.
That’s a pretty great legacy!
Marivel: I’m doing what I love. When you make everything from love, it makes a huge difference. You can tell. You can taste it.
Has the definition of Tex-Mex changed over time?
Sharon: Yes, it has. First of all, it has morphed to so many food cultures and cuisines — certainly tacos. But the whole restaurant landscape has changed so much in the time I’ve been in Houston. It is finally a mature food town with tons of great options — Tex, Mex and otherwise.
What makes a good breakfast taco?
Sharon: Fresh ingredients — and ingredients that YOU want in your taco! We have over a million combinations of our breakfast taco and each one is made to order.
So in San Francisco, we have a special way to eat a burrito. You’ve got the foil and you unwrap it bit by bit. Is there a special way to eat a breakfast taco when you’re on the go?
Marivel: No forks, no knives. Like an empanada.
Sharon: Usually by the end, you’re grabbing that last bit of tortilla and egg, and it’s messy, but that’s how you do it. You don’t get a fork and knife. You just don’t.
Marivel: It will taste different if you use a fork and knife — it’s not the same flavor!
In a battle of Texas tacos vs. San Francisco burritos, who would win?
Sharon: Texas. Hands down. I would say New Mexico might put up a fight with their burritos topped with green or red chilis!
How did you come up with the name Tacos A Go Go?
Sharon: My husband claims he came up with it…and I say it was all me! We loved the Whiskey A Go Go theme [in L.A.] and thought it would work well with a taco take-out joint. It’s fun and has some depth with history and pop culture.
Where does the fun rockabilly decor stem from?
Sharon: We wanted to create a space that transported you through the food, and also through the environment. When we opened this place, the idea was to have a vibe that was accessible to a broad range of people. People knew Tex-Mex, but we wanted to bring in Mexican street culture, which has such an amazing vibe, and look and feel to it. And then after that, Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison, sort of bring fun, funky Texas twist to that. It just made it very interesting, that mashup.
Marivel: In Mexico, we have restaurants that look a lot like this, called fondas.
Sharon: People walk in here and they don’t feel like they’re in Houston.
What’s it like having a restaurant in Houston’s Midtown neighborhood?
This area is interesting. When we first came here, it was, and it still is, a neighborhood in transition. And 13 years later, it’s definitely more “transitioned” than it was when we first got here. The clientele that comes here is awesome. You have a homeless guy who’s scrapped together enough to buy a breakfast taco next to a businessman who has taken the light rail to lunch. There are kids in flip flops to University of Houston students, you name it. It’s an amazing crowd, and anything goes. Everyone’s urban, everyone’s open-minded. It’s really a wonderful cross-section of Houston.
Everyone loves a taco. It’s like the ultimate unifying kind of food.
Sharon: Absolutely. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. You really can’t beat it. On the go, you can sit down and enjoy it. It’s the perfect food.
Starting today, DoorDash is available in the greater Memphis area, in the following neighborhoods: Uptown, Midtown, Downtown, South Memphis, East Memphis, Central Gardens, Nonconnah, Oakville, Orange Mound, Parkway Village, Germantown, Collierville, Raleigh, Wolfchase and Berclair. The United States is one of the few places on the planet where you can experience a massively diverse range of international cuisine. So it’s no surprise that every city in the nation has its own global favorite. According to our data, here’s the cuisine that tops each city’s list.
New York — Chinese Los Angeles — Japanese San Francisco — Mexican Chicago — American (Pizza) Dallas — BBQ Washington D.C. — Middle Eastern Miami — Latin American Atlanta — Southern (Fried Chicken) Boston — Italian Seattle — Thai
This is America
Hamburgers, fries and wings — these all-American comfort classics have seen more than their fair share of homes across the continent. Since 2013, you’ve eaten 8.5 million orders of french fries, 8 million hamburgers and 4 million orders of wings.
Poke, Pockets — Like, It’s Hot
The fresh, global-inspired poke trend shows no signs of slowing down. We saw poke orders increase 12X over the last 5 years — but some other unlikely international players have exploded, too. Take empanadas. Orders for the portable, Latin American pockets of deliciousness spiked 436X since 2013. And then there’s the unexpected rise of gooey fondue, orders of which increased by 60X. Turns out pizza and grilled cheese sandwiches have some stiff competition for the cheesy crown.
One Day You’re In…And The Next, You’re Out
Could ramen be on its way out? The rich broth ‘n noodle staple of college campuses everywhere has seen a 40% decrease, while liquid lunchers are showing signs of smoothiefatigue — orders for the blended beverages are down 6%.
97 Bubble Teas On The Wall
Take them down, group orders all around — and you’ve got 97 friends with bubble tea in their hands. That’s right, our largest group order ever consisted of 97 individual orders of bubble tea for the Bioengineering Center at Stanford University one evening — late-night finals fuel, anyone?
Eat Your Heart Out, Sports Fanatics
We might not be playing the game, but we sure can pretend we’re burning all those calories.
As the Philadelphia Eagles defeated defending champs New England Patriots during Super Bowl 2018, you ordered —
16,000 orders of wings 10,000 pizzas 3,000 orders of nachos
And about those Philly cheesesteaks…we saw orders for the iconic sandwich double during the Super Bowl nationwide on game day compared to the average.
When it comes to baseball, the competition is just as fierce among the fans…and boy did the Cubs’ fans bring their a-game. That’s right, Chicago Cubs fans — you ordered 12x more food than Cleveland Indians fans on the day your team clinched an epic World Series victory in 2016.
Holidays? How About Holi-dash
The real magic of the holidays — whether cultural, religious, or “just because” — is spending time with friends and family. At DoorDash, we know those gatherings always involve plenty of food.
Chinese Food On Christmas Will Always Be A Thing
In 2017, we saw orders for Chinese foodtriple (3X) on Christmas, with Manhattanites carrying the team by ordering 5X more Chinese food than their annual average.
From Galentine’s To Valentine’s
In 2018, we helped single ladies celebrate “Galentine’s Day” by stocking their parties with over 6,000 orders of booze — nearly 20% more alcohol than on Valentine’s Day. And those happily paired off? On Valentine’s Day this year, chocolate salesquadrupled.
Let’s Taco ‘Bout Cinco De Mayo
On everyone’s favorite Mexican food feast day this year, Dashers delivered a whopping 47,000 burritos, 38,000 tacos and 13,000 orders of chips and guacamole. Compare that to the quintessential American food fest, Memorial Day — 25,000 burgers, 1,500 hot dogs and 4,800 beers were ordered this year alone!
TV Dinners (And Brunches, Too)
Whether it’s a cultural event or a TV moment watching history in the making, we love any excuse to rally around food and libations.
During the royal wedding that captivated the world on May 19, 2018, Americans across the country woke up early that Saturday morning to watch the ceremony between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle unfold. We saw 50% more people order breakfast.
And speaking of English occasions, we saw orders for fish & chips quadruple during the impending Brexit vote in March 2017.
Did someone say elections? Let’s not forget our own, which turned into one of the biggest national drinking days of the year. On Election Day in 2016, 90 percent more people ordered liquor on DoorDash and 50 percent more ordered wine, compared to other Tuesdays in November and October.
And for the TV event we’ve all got our calendars marked for — Shark Week — who doesn’t crave the very thing you’re watching? Yep, turns out we eat what we see. You ordered 66,000 orders of fish last year during Shark Week. (Trust us, that number is not fishy at all).
Oh, The Places They’ll Go
Over the last 5 years, Dashers (aka delivery drivers) have traveled 340 million miles. You could circle the globe 13,600 times or take more than 700 round-trip flights to the moon and back.
Biggest Tip
The largest tip a Dasher has received for one single order was $900!
Fighting Food Waste
Since January 2018, 17,000 pounds of food from partner restaurants have been saved from landfills and redistributed to food pantries — that’s heavier than two adult elephants!
In celebration of our 5th anniversary, we’re donating 50,000 meals in partnership with Feeding America® to feed people in need across the country.¹ But that’s not all. By the end of 2018, we’ve also committed to increasing the volume of food we rescue each month by 5X!
Cheers to 5 years!

“I was immediately interested in the DoorDash opportunity. As a small business, I don’t often get to be represented alongside national brands, with the same service and care, for an affordable price. I can now offer delivery, without increased payroll all while increasing my brand awareness and availability to customers. The customer service I’ve received is impeccable. This is a home run for my business!”
