As part of our ongoing work to broaden food access, DoorDash (NYSE: DASH), the local commerce platform, will begin accepting SNAP/EBT payments on the platform with multiple grocery partners including ALDI, Albertsons, Safeway, Meijer, and participating 7-Eleven® stores. With these partnerships, more than 4,000 grocery and convenience locations nationwide will soon offer SNAP/EBT payment capabilities on DoorDash for on-demand delivery of eligible grocery items.

To offer more savings to consumers and help reduce barriers to fresh groceries, DoorDash will offer SNAP recipients all the benefits of a DashPass membership—our membership program that offers $0 delivery fees on eligible orders that meet minimum subtotals from thousands of restaurants, grocery, and convenience stores nationwide—free for two months.*

“The rise of on-demand grocery delivery has had a transformational impact on food access. This is especially true for vulnerable populations, including seniors, people living in food deserts, and those facing disability or transportation barriers,” said Fuad Hannon, VP of New Verticals at DoorDash. “We’re proud to partner with these merchants to offer SNAP recipients access to quality groceries conveniently through our platform. Through the power of local delivery, enabling SNAP/EBT payments can make a profound impact on reducing food insecurity and connecting people to groceries and the essential items they need.”

Today, customers can order SNAP/EBT-eligible grocery items on DoorDash at the following merchants:

  • ALDI – Starting in July, customers can access and purchase SNAP-eligible grocery products from over 2,200 ALDI locations across 38 states. Products include their award-winning, fresh, and affordable groceries as well as the highly sought-after ALDI Finds, all at the low prices customers count on from ALDI.
  • Albertsons and Safeway – Customers can order from DoorDash SNAP-eligible items at nearly 900 Safeway and 380 Albertsons locations nationwide. Partnering with DoorDash allows shoppers to use their EBT cards to make online purchases for home delivery, which is a critical part of Albertsons’ ongoing efforts to create a flexible and convenient shopping experience for all customers. Additionally, customers can connect their DoorDash account to the grocer’s loyalty program – Safeway for U™ or Albertsons for U™ – to earn points towards gas and grocery rewards with their purchases at participating store locations.
  • Meijer – Starting in July, customers can access fresh, high-quality food, from dairy and eggs to local produce to fresh meat and fish, in over 260 locations.
  • 7-Eleven – Starting in July, Customers can order delivery from over 130 7-Eleven stores across the U.S. for a variety of convenience items, food and beverages.

DoorDash’s Ongoing Work to Ensure Food is Accessible and Affordable to All Customers

DoorDash launched on-demand grocery delivery in 2020. Today, DoorDash has more than 100,000 non-restaurant stores across its Marketplace and Drive platforms across North America with more than 98% of DoorDash’s monthly customers in the U.S. having access to a non-restaurant store on DoorDash. With our growth beyond restaurants, we’re excited to offer on-demand access to grocery and convenience stores on DoorDash with partners including Albertsons Cos. banner stores, Walgreens, BJ’s, Grocery Outlet, and Dollar General, creating more opportunities for consumers to get everything they need in a convenient way. With more than 4,000 stores accepting SNAP/EBT payments on DoorDash, we are proud to help broaden food access to more than 2.3M people who are living in USDA-defined food deserts and over 4.3M people living in communities where over 1 in 10 households receive SNAP/EBT benefits, according to data compiled by DoorDash.**

Project DASH, DoorDash’s initiative to empower food banks, food pantries, and other social impact organizations, powers the delivery of food to people experiencing food insecurity. To date, estimated 80 million meals have been delivered via Project DASH. Our work to expand the availability of SNAP/EBT on DoorDash reflects our commitment to expanding access to nutritious food and healthy choices in support of the White Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health.

Enabling SNAP recipients to order groceries through DoorDash can help families meet childcare and work obligations, relieve seniors of the potential stress of going to the grocery store, and support people with disabilities who face mobility issues by allowing them to access nutritious food efficiently and affordably with same-day delivery. We look forward to serving SNAP-utilizing households and expanding food access by providing them the opportunity to use their SNAP benefits at their favorite grocery stores in a way that offers choice and convenience.

“The Alliance to End Hunger is happy to see DoorDash expand its offerings with the inclusion of SNAP recipients. A key issue to ensure food security across the country is improved access, and DoorDash is taking a positive and commonsense step in today’s tech-friendly world,” said Eric Mitchell, Executive Director, Alliance to End Hunger.

Consumers can add a SNAP/EBT card directly to the payment method section of the DoorDash app, under ‘Program Cards.’ Once their card is added, they’ll receive an email with a unique link to redeem their free DashPass membership for two months with a few clicks and start saving.
