#1 – Tell us about your role and journey so far at DoorDash.

I am a Support Trainer based in Tempe, Arizona, and have been at DoorDash for a year and a half. I train newly hired employees to resolve account updates and issues and to support our Merchants, which provide services to our customers. The journey with DoorDash thus far has been nothing short of amazing. I have had some great opportunities meeting great people that I would have never had if it wasn’t for DoorDash.

#2 – What does your day-to-day look like?

My day typically starts with checking communication across our teams and the training schedule. When class is in session, ensuring I am prepared for facilitation incorporating games, ice breakers, plus training content to engage learners. The best part of my job is getting to know each individual that comes through my class. Knowing that I play a role in their career path to success with DoorDash is rewarding.

#3 – What has career development looked like for you at DoorDash?

I began DoorDash as a contingent employee for Merchant Services. Working hard to meet my metrics as a Tier 3 Merchant Support agent led to helping on special projects, assisting in training and applying for a Trainer role before getting a promotion. My proudest accomplishment was being recognized by my team for one of DoorDash values And, Not, Either/Or for assisting my team and supporting other teams all while juggling my workload daily. This helped lead to my promotion after one year of being with the company. I continue to learn and grow with my team, ready to see where I can go from here.

#4 – What is something that surprised you the most about DoorDash after working here?

I was shocked at the amount of support and appreciation that our CEO, Tony Xu, displays for his team, which is us! It’s the culture and the foundation that makes it all worth joining this company. Coming from 15 years of retail management, I have never felt so appreciated working for a company that actually values work/life balance.

#5 – What do you love most about working at DoorDash and what do you look forward to the most in growing your career here?

I love how supportive and inclusive DoorDash is. I have never experienced such a strong support team in a company before working here. Everyone that I have come across in DoorDash has been a phenomenal help to my career development. Not to mention how inclusive everyone is. No one sees faces or the status quo. You can feel free to be yourself without any judgment. There are also employee resource groups (ERGs) for people with the same common interest that you don’t have to qualify for to join but just be interested and they will welcome you with open arms. I look forward to the journey with DoorDash, impacting the lives of the full spectrum of Agents, Merchants, Dashers and Customers has to be the most exciting and rewarding part of my career growth.

#6 – What ERGs are you involved in (if any) and how have they helped you in your career growth?

I am involved with Black@DoorDash, Women@DoorDash, Parents@DoorDash, recently joining Natives@DoorDash and Latinx@DoorDash. The ERGs post great educational information about life, business, finance, health and things that you can do to help grow not only your career but your personal life. I have had the pleasure of joining decompression sessions, painting with Natives@DoorDash and Black@DoorDash and attending a live virtual block party with DJs and a comedian.

#7 – We’re celebrating Black History Month this month. What does Black History Month mean to you?

Black History Month to me is a time of reflection and celebration. Looking at Black history, where we began, the struggles, the overcoming, the successes alway motivates me to make my mark on the world. Appreciating those that paved the way not only for Black individuals but for all nationalities to be treated equally. We have come a long way in history, we may not be where we think we should be but vast improvements have been made to our quality of life. To see Black leaders, Black entrepreneurs, Black inventors, and successful people of various backgrounds is always a proud moment for me. It helps me to appreciate the fight that made the world a better place not only for us, but for all.

#8 – What do you love about the Customer Experience team culture, and what do you think is important for potential candidates to know?

The culture of DoorDash is very inclusive and supportive. I love the fact that there are no strangers in this environment, you can literally reach out to anyone for help. If you are looking for a place to learn in a fast-paced environment, this is a company that offers work/life integration, recognition and endless opportunities, DoorDash is a company for you. Just like anything else in life, if you set your mind to it, put in the work, many doors of opportunity await you.
