The National Restaurant Association and DoorDash Host Webinar to Answer Merchants’ Restaurant Revitalization Fund Questions
Since the start of the pandemic, restaurants have had to innovate and adapt in order to survive. Throughout the last year, DoorDash has demonstrated its commitment to its merchant partners by announcing its five-year, $200 million Main Street Strong Pledge, providing $10 million in Main Street Strong COVID-19 relief grants efforts, and launching the inaugural Main Street Strong Accelerator program, providing a $20,000 grant and training programs to 100 merchants in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Atlanta.
Congress recently passed the Restaurant Revitalization Fund as part of the American Rescue Plan Act, providing $28.6 billion in direct funding to the restaurant community. DoorDash teamed up with the National Restaurant Association to help restaurateurs navigate this latest round of relief in an interactive webinar with Aaron Frazier, Director of Healthcare and Tax Policy at the National Restaurant Association.
We know this help comes at a crucial time. Restaurants and bars that are eligible include those whose owners operate 20 or fewer restaurants, are not part of a publicly-traded company or are state or local government owned, and those that lost money in 2020 compared to 2019 are able to apply. This includes food stands, food trucks, and food carts. The Small Business Administration will be administering the grants and eligible restaurants can apply at www.sba.gov when the applications become available.
